Packanack's Global Celebration 🌐
Families traveled to Packanack's first annual Global Celebration. Families hosted tables representing various countries, including Colombia, Croatia, Brazil, Turkey, Paraguay, Ecuador, China, England, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Ireland, Ghana, Poland, Peru, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico. Some highlights from the itinerary included opportunities for families to learn about each other’s cultures and traditions and receive passport stamps, sample diverse cuisines, plot their family's country of origin, browse culture jars designed by every student, and decorate suitcases before departing for the trip home. It was such a great night of sharing and celebrating for our community!

Wayne Valley - An Unforgettable Journey to Italy Spring Break 2025 ✈️
Wayne Valley High Schools students took their very first trip to Italy—an extraordinary experience that brought together students, parents, and faculty from our school. After years of anticipation, the dream was made a reality: an educational and cultural journey that left a lasting impression on all.
The group had the opportunity to explore the cities of Rome, Siena, Florence, Murano and Venice—places steeped in ancient history, timeless art, and rich traditions that showcase the beauty of Italian culture. Each city offered a unique experience, enriching our students both academically and personally.
Ryerson’s Culture Club - Forks, Flavors, and Friendships 🤝
Each week, Ryerson's Culture Club studies a new country. They have been learning about the language, the flag, where the country is located on a map, the music, clothing, dance, homes, and geography of the country. Then comes the fun part… THE FOOD!
India - the club made naan bread (plain and garlic) and sampled both
Italy - students made personal pizzas (and learned how olive oil is made)
Greece - a taste test was conducted - Hummus vs. Tzatziki with pita chips (hummus won!)
Costa Rica - Mr. Rodriguez - 3rd grade teacher and one of the advisors of Culture Club - made Cuban moro (homemade traditional rice and beans) for everyone - a huge hit!!
China - everyone learned how to use chopsticks (first practicing with popcorn, and next to sample dumplings)
Culture Club is mindful of dietary restrictions, and they avoid pork products altogether. During the month of Ramadan, the students who were fasting were able to take the foods home to enjoy after sundown.
Culture Club has been running at Ryerson for the past 6 school years, and it has consistently been a reported favorite of the kids. They learn a lot, and they also have a lot of fun!

4th Grade Wax Museum Brings History to Life!
Mrs. Saitta’s social studies classes brought history—and the present—to life at Ryerson Elementary’s 2nd Annual Wax Museum Exhibit! Thanks to the creativity and dedication of our 4th grade students, the event was a tremendous success. After months of hard work and research, students proudly stepped into the roles of their chosen influential figures, transforming into living statues that shared inspiring stories, achievements, and significant contributions to society.
Each student selected a notable person they wanted to learn more about, ranging from inventors and artists to civil rights leaders and world explorers. After weeks of studying their chosen figure’s life and accomplishments, students dressed in costume and presented themselves as wax statues. With the press of a ‘button,’ the figures awoke, delivering polished monologues that brought their characters to life.
Families, staff, and fellow students were treated to an inspiring afternoon of storytelling and history. Highlights included powerful portrayals of Steve Irwin, Rosa Parks, Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, Michael Phelps, Bruno Mars, and many more.
It was a day to remember—where history didn’t just repeat itself, but stood still just long enough to tell its story. A special thanks goes out to 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Maureen Saitta, for guiding the students through this immersive learning experience, and to all the families who supported their students along the way!
