Starting off the Year with Lafayette PRIDE π¦
We recently launched our schoolwide PRIDE PBIS program with a spirited assembly led by our Pride Committee student volunteers from fourth and fifth grade. During the event, students reviewed expectations for all of our learning spacesβclassrooms, hallways, playgrounds, cafeteria, and assembliesβhighlighting how consistent positive behavior supports a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone. This shared understanding helps us build a strong sense of community, where each student knows how to contribute to a positive school culture. The assembly also provided the perfect opportunity to recognize individuals who have already demonstrated this monthβs character trait, celebrating their efforts as role models and inspiring others to follow their example.

Schuyler Colfax Hosts Visitors from Africa π€
Our friends from the Maasai Tribe in Kenya, Africa visited with 6th grade students at SCMS. 6th grade social studies classes had an amazing time with Chief Joseph. He spoke to our students about his community and shared artifacts from his village. They had jewelry available for sale during lunch time for all grade levels. In previous years, SCMS families have helped build a school for girls, dormitory, and a well to provide the community with clean water.
Bus Safety π

Anthony Wayne's Second Annual Sorting Day π©
Thereβs no place like home at Anthony Wayne Middle School! On Friday, September 12th, AWMS kicked off the 2025-2026 school year with our first House Celebration at Sorting Day. The entire school community gathered in the gym to welcome 6th graders and any new students to their homes. These students excitedly joined the festivities, as they were randomly assigned to either Reveur, Sollevare, Altruismo, or Nukumori. The AWMS family is eager to see who will win the House Cup this year!
