Rooted in Values & Growing with Purpose: Ryerson Family Night |
Ryerson successfully hosted its 1st Leader In Me Family Night of the school year! 100+ attendees came out, and the topic of the evening was Habit 2: Beginning with the End in Mind.
This evening was run by Ryerson 4th and 5th grade student leaders, who took on roles from greeting guests at the door, teaching the concepts of the evening, and taking photos of the event.
Each family was tasked to identify their most important values, and then they created family mission statements to display on their vision boards that everyone took home at the end of the night. Many of the vision boards had statements that highlighted the importance of their family’s connection to their faith, kindness towards others, and the goal of always trying their best. Photographs chosen included scenic images to represent past vacations or desired trips in the future, foods that resembled those included in a special cultural meal, and images of animals to honor their pets.
Ryerson looks forward to hosting its next Family Night in the New Year, with the goal of bringing our school community together to learn more about our Leader In Me program and the important role it has in shaping our kids! |

Lafayette Elementary Hosted a Ruby Bridges Walk |
Lafayette Elementary School hosted a Ruby Bridges Walk. Led and planned by dedicated Safety Patrol, who encouraged students and families to join in, students gathered at the school playground at 8:15 am. From there, many of the students, parents, staff members, therapy dogs, and even our Superintendent, walked together to school in solidarity and celebration.
Ruby Bridges is a civil rights activist who, at just six years old in 1960, became the first African American student at the center of the movement to desegregate schools in New Orleans and the South. Her tremendous bravery helped pave the way for desegregation and continues to inspire students and educators across the country.
To honor Ruby’s courage, the Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day was created—and this year, Lafayette proudly took part.
Thank you to everyone who bundled up and came out in the brisk weather to make this meaningful event such a success! Your participation truly brought the spirit of courage and community to life. |
